Bonjour, Hello, Howdy, Hola…You get the idea!
My name is Shannon Looney and welcome to my site! Here you will find my portfolio of professional work, a blog full of adventures, thoughts and muses, photography (film and digital) and much more!
I was born in Hartford, Connecticut but did not stay there for too long…because from then on I was on the go living in over 10 other places. Moving around was and is the norm for me, and so traveling has felt the most natural. As a writer, photographer, and traveler, I have always been eager and equipped to create stories, and the curious.
I have a B.S. in Communications from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where I focused on interpersonal, cross-cultural and media studies. My interest for communication and a passionate love for connecting with people from all over the world has led to many adventures.
My most recent adventure was a nomadic service year with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC). What a whirlwind it was! I learned all sorts of skills like mucking and gutting homes after the hurricanes hit the East Coast, construction, building fires from scratch, taxes, and more (check out my journal for a month-by-month reflection)
Since completing my time with AmeriCorps NCCC, I am actively seeking employment in the Communications, Marketing and/or PR fields. In a perfect world, I would be working in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area and/or remotely (the travel bug is incurable!). I would love to know of any amazing opportunities!
As I continue to grow, I am excited to share that I've recently started an online certificate program in Digital Marketing & Media at Duke University. This curriculum provides students with advanced knowledge of the eight most important digital marketing domains and includes real-world projects and virtual simulations for practical experience. Additional courses cover Advanced Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Content Marketing, Email Marketing, Web Analytics and more.
I am happy to be back in the classroom to build upon passions and experience so that I can help an organization build upon their brand and mission.
I love learning, chatting, collaborating…etc. Feel free to reach out—my socials are linked below!
